Santhi Bhavan, centre for the study and promotion of psychosocial rehabilitation, is a pastoral venture of the Norbertine Fathers of Averbode. It functions under the guidance of the Santhi Charitable society with the cooperation of various benefactors as well as well wishers and stands for the service to the people of the local church.
Since this pastoral venture is meant for the people of the Malabar region of Kerala, we have chosen Kozhikode, which lies in the heart of Malabar. The centre has the added advantage of being close to the Kozhikode Medical College. Fifteen months of intensive preparation has made Santhi Bhavan ready to serve its beneficiaries.

It was blessed, inaugurated and opened as a ’home in between’, - a bridge between medical treatment and the outside world - for psychiatric patients. It helps them regain their equilibrium after treatment and re-orients them for life in the family and society at large.

Apart from this Santhi Bhavan gives counselling, orientation and guidance for mentally affected individuals and families. Along with these pastoral activities the centre organises exhaustive field work and research on mental patients, especially based on their family history, social background and psychiatric care.
There is an annex to Santhi Bhavan named Jeeva Vihar to accommodate post psychiatric female patients.
