social rehabilitation through various psycho-hygiene programmes |
| pp |
 |
Through creative, recreative
and educative programmes, Santhi Bhavan seeks to integrate
post-psychiatric patients into the social, cultural and
spiritual world. |
|
| |
 |
Creative:-
|
Therapeutic methods include
different occupational therapies like horticultural therapy
and small-scale agricultural therapy. These methods help
the individual regain his lost attachment to his surroundings.
Job oriented programmes such as candle making, soap making,
book-binding, umbrella assembling, etc., helps clients regain
their lost dignity, and respect towards human labour. |
| |
 |
Recreative:- |
Therapy
includes play therapy, music therapy, narrative
therapy etc. These help them gradually regain the
ability to make friends, interact with each other
and relearn the norms of human conduct. |
 |
|
| |
 |
Educative:- |
Therapy includes different pedagogical
methods focusing on learning, writing and observation. Using
simple mass media like newspapers, magazines and television,
and through personal dialogue we try to revive their capacity
for reading, writing and thinking. |
| |
 |
Occupational:- |
The Occupational
Rehabilitation Program is an interdisciplinary,
team-based program designed to evaluate and treat
injured workers and assists them in getting back
to work. The program incorporates physical |
 |
| conditioning, real or simulated work
activities, and medical and psychological treatment,
to address both the medical and the occupational needs
of each individual. |
|
|
| |
 |
These therapeutic programmes
are undertaken by service minded students from different
educational institutions, qualified social workers and appointed
cooperators, under the supervision of the Director of Santhi
Bhavan. To provide intensive care, the
centre adopts group therapy and observes their psychological
changes - both deviations and progress from the abnormal
stage, if any. |
